Data Science Process Training / Certification

DSPA’s three levels of knowledge

When you first enroll in our Data Science Practitioner™ (DSP) training, you immediately become a DSPA member, and are part of our community, which will help you get started learning how to execute agile data science projects.

For example, DSPA members have access to our learning center, which includes access to videos and summaries of different aspects of managing a data science project. By leveraging this content, you will get a sense of the frameworks that might be used on a data science project.

In addition, you will also be able to tap into our community of learners, Data Science Team Leads, and DSPA instructors. This professional network enables you to find answers when you need advice.

Cost: Included in our DSPA Practitioner training (see below)

The Data Science Practitioner™ (DSP) training provides members with a foundational level of knowledge on how to be part of an effective data science team. It covers the key coordination and data science life cycle frameworks.

This course starts with an asynchronous online learning component, followed by an online seminar, which meets for synchronous discussions, games and exercises. The live seminar/class lasts 2 hours and is offered a few times a month. You can sign up for whichever seminar session fits your schedule.

Cost: $295 (includes the DSPA membership, the DSP live seminar and the DSP exam and certification)

The Data Science Team Lead™ (DSTL) course provides an opportunity for more in depth learning. After completing this training members will be ready to lead data science projects (from a process perspective).

The course is either a 2-day face-to-face class, or a one month web-based class that meets weekly for synchronous discussions and exercises (as well as online learning in between sessions).

Cost: $995 (includes online training, four live sessions and the DSTL certification exam)

During our courses, students work on real-life cases, participate in discussions with other students (that are instructor facilitated), and have readings to compliment the discussions.

For both DSPP and DSPL, the course is a combination of online learning, live instruction and team-based exercises and games, where students experience how using a data science process can improve a data science team’s effectiveness in generating actionable insight. Each of these courses also includes registration for the applicable certification exam.

Note that the DSTL course is our most advanced class, and it discusses common missteps and misunderstandings, so members gain an awareness of the associated symptoms of those missteps. That course also provides prescriptive guidance to avoid having the project go off track from those missteps and misunderstandings.
